Dear Samuel,
We blinked.At least that's what it felt like. All of a sudden the calendar says December 6th and you've hit another milestone. 1 year.
On this day last year the thought of having a 1st birthday party seemed almost impossible. Your mom and I remember it like it was yesterday.....like I said, we blinked. It's hard not to think about all of our friends in the NICU unit at Gundersen. Without them, and their wonderful care, who knows where we would be today.
You've met, and most often exceeded all expectations that the doctors set for you. We couldn't be more proud.
What an amazing journey it's been to this point little man. You've taught us so much about ourselves and our little family over this past year and I can't wait to see what you have in store for us next. For now, I'll try to remember to not blink....because tomorrow I'm going to wake up and you'll be graduating from high school. So, let's enjoy today and be thankful for all of God's blessings.
